The sort of bass drum sound we go for is primarily based on the stylistic requirements of the music but also whatever mood I happen to be in that day. Some days you’ll want a nice Chic style dry slap and there are others when only a truly Bonahamy “BOOOOM!” will do. In recent times I have been favouring the latter, largely because it sounds totally cool but also because I feel that the notey bass drum is becoming a slightly dying art.
