Below are some recent examples of the sounds that have been coming from our recording studio:

Lianne La Havas – Final Form

Urchin has had a long and close relationship with the extraordinary South London singer Lianne La Havas since recording one of her first demos back in 2008. Final Form, which appears on her debut EP Lost and Found was performed, produced and mixed by Lianne, Matt and Dan.

Fyfe Dangerfield – Always a Woman

Recorded and mixed by Matt and Dan in a single 4 hour evening session, this Billy Joel cover by Guillemots front-man Fyfe Dangerfield reached no.7 in the UK single chart in 2010.

Marques Toliver – Deep In My Heart

This track is taken from Marques' debut EP Butterflies Are Not Free. Recorded almost entirely on the road using a lap-top and Garageband(!), it was mixed at Urchin Studios by Dan Cox.

Amber States - One Trick Pony

Sometime in 2010 Matt met Amber States front-man Gavin Bell in the early hours at a house party in Clapton. He said, “I’m in a band,” Matt said, “I’ve got a studio,” and a week later they recorded this song "One Trick Pony". Simple.

Three Trapped Tigers - 6

Urchin are proud to have a close association with the frankly phenomenal London three-piece Three Trapped Tigers having worked on their first three EPs. “6” is taken from the 2nd EP (cunningly titled EP2) and was recorded and mixed at Urchin by Dan Cox.

Burning Beard - Eat Your Young

Burning Beard are West London's newest (if not only) 'Alternative Doom Folk' band. As ambitious in attitude as they are in their sound they undertook to record and mix 3 songs in only 3 days. 'Eat Your Young' is one of the tunes that resulted from the session.
