Frequently Asked Questions
Can I come and see the studio?
Of course. We are always happy to show people our studio and discuss the specific needs of your project.
I went to a studio a while ago and they didn't really seem to give a shit. How do I know you won't be the same?
At Urchin Studios we will always take the time to talk in depth about what you want to do BEFORE the session.
This ensures we are 'both on the same page' and set out in the right musical direction.
I have a demo I recorded at home that sounds awesome - can I use this as part of my recording?
Yes. Home demos are a great starting point for a studio recording, as they often capture the
the musician at a time when they were most comfortable.
How much time should I book for my project?
This question relates entirely to the size and complexity of the project. As every session is unique, please call us for an estimate of the time needed based on your individual needs.
What do I need to bring to the recording session?
Please bring as much of your own equipment as you reasonably can, as your own instruments are those you are most familiar with. Other useful items include spare guitar strings, reference CDs, and copies of your lyrics.
I need session musicians for my recording, can you arrange this?
We have a list of talented session musicians to cover virtually any style, and can advise you on those who would be most appropriate to your musical genre.
What payment methods do you accept?
We currently accept cheques (made payable to "Urchin Studios"), bank transfers and cash as payment. Note: cash machines are in short supply in the immediate area around the studio, so please make arrangements to withdraw cash prior to the recording session.
What if my session runs over?
If you need an extra couple of hours this can usually be added onto the end of the day. However if you require a lot more time, booking another day may be more appropriate. Our staff will endeavour to advise you if they think your session is likely to overrun.
